“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.”

Galatians 5:1
Freedom is one of God’s greatest gifts, and yet one of the easiest blessings to forget. Christ didn’t just loosen our chains—He broke them completely. He didn’t simply lighten our burdens—He lifted them off our shoulders. In Him, we are no longer defined by guilt, fear, or the expectations of others. We are defined by His love and secured by His grace.

But Paul reminds us to “stand firm.” Why? Because even after being set free, we are tempted to live as though we are still bound. Old habits whisper. Shame tries to creep back in. The enemy would love nothing more than for a freed person to live like a captive.

Standing firm means choosing daily to believe what Christ has already accomplished. It means refusing to let sin’s voice drown out God’s truth. It means walking confidently in the identity Jesus purchased on the cross—beloved, forgiven, redeemed, and free.

Today, embrace the freedom Christ has given you. Not freedom to wander, but freedom to walk closely with Him—freely loved, freely forgiven, and freely secure.
1. Lord, help me stand firm. Ask God to give you strength to remain steady in the freedom He has given you.

2. Jesus, reveal any area where I’m living like I’m still bound. Invite the Holy Spirit to show you old habits, lies, or patterns that keep you from experiencing true freedom.

3. Father, teach me how to fully live out the freedom You purchased for me. Pray for wisdom, courage, and joy as you walk in the freedom Christ has already secured.

4. Pray for Friends Church to experience the freedom of Christ in 2026. Pray that God would allow us to corporately know and experience the freedom of Christ in worship as we gather together as His church, united to honor and lift-up His name.
