“So, God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.”
Genesis 1:27
Genesis 1:27
Genesis 1:27 reminds us of a truth so foundational, yet often forgotten in the noise of everyday life: you were intentionally created in the image of God. Before you ever accomplished anything, before you ever tried to prove your worth, God stamped His likeness on you. This means your value is not earned—it is given. It is woven into your very being.
To be made in God’s image means we carry the imprint of His creativity, His compassion, His strength, and His capacity to love. We were created to reflect His character to the world—not perfectly, but purposefully. When life makes us feel small, unseen, or inadequate, this verse pulls us back to our true identity. We are image-bearers of the living God.
Because of this, every interaction is an opportunity to reflect Him—through kindness, integrity, forgiveness, and courage. As we walk with Him, the Holy Spirit helps restore the broken or hidden places of that image within us, shaping us into who we were always meant to be.
Today, rest in the dignity God gave you from the very beginning. You are His creation, His reflection, His child, and you are loved. Pray for these things as you live in your identity as a child of God.

1. A stronger awareness of your God-given identity. Pray that God helps you truly believe and embrace that you are created in His image—valuable, purposeful, and deeply loved.
2. The ability to reflect God’s character. Ask the Lord to help you mirror His love, compassion, creativity, and integrity in your words, actions, and relationships.
3. Healing in the areas that distort your view of yourself. Pray for God to restore any part of your identity wounded by comparison, rejection, insecurity, or past hurt, so you can see yourself the way He sees you.
4. Pray Friends Church bears the image of Christ. Pray that Friends Church is a place that bears the image of Christ and sees that in every person that calls this place their church home. May they experience the compassion of Christ and the love of His people every time they walk through our doors.
