“To all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.”

John 1:12
What a beautiful and life-changing truth: through faith in Jesus, we are welcomed into God’s family. Becoming a child of God is not something we earn through good behavior, religious effort, or spiritual performance. It is a gift given to all who receive Christ and believe in His name.

Receiving Jesus means opening our hearts to Him—not just acknowledging who He is but trusting Him with our lives. When we do, God gives us a new identity. We are no longer defined by our past, our failures, or our fears. We are defined by our relationship with a loving Father who calls us His own.

As children of God, we are given access to His presence, His guidance, and His promises. We belong. We are secure. We are deeply loved. This truth brings freedom and confidence, reminding us that we are never alone and never forgotten.

Today, reflect on the gift of adoption into God’s family. Live from this identity, not striving for approval, but resting in the assurance that you are God’s beloved child—chosen, accepted, and forever His.
1. Father, thank You for welcoming me into Your family. Pray with gratitude for the gift of becoming God’s child through faith in Jesus.

2. Lord, help me live each day from my identity as Your child. Ask God to remove insecurity, fear, or striving, and help you walk confidently in His love and acceptance.

3. Holy Spirit, teach me to trust and believe in Jesus more deeply. Pray for a growing faith that fully receives Christ and rests in the promises of being God’s child.

4. Father, as a church, we receive Jesus anew and rejoice in the gift of being Your children. Pray that Friends Church would collectively live from their identity as God’s family—walking in unity, confidence, and love—reflecting the heart of the Father to the community around us and also, around the world.
