“Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,” says the Lord Almighty.”
Zechariah 4:6
Zechariah 4:6
Zechariah 4 gives a gentle but powerful reminder that the work God calls us to cannot be accomplished in human strength alone. We often try to push through life with our own abilities—our determination, wisdom, or effort. But God whispers a different truth: real victory, lasting change, and true spiritual fruit come only by His Spirit.
When Zerubbabel faced the daunting task of rebuilding the temple, the obstacles were overwhelming. Yet God didn’t give him a strategy rooted in human ability; He gave him a promise rooted in divine power. The same is true for us. God’s Spirit empowers what we cannot accomplish, strengthens what we cannot sustain, and completes what we cannot finish on our own.
This truth frees us. We don’t have to strive endlessly or carry burdens we were never meant to bear. Instead, we learn to depend on the Holy Spirit—inviting Him to guide, strengthen, fill, and lead us.
Today, release the pressure to do everything in your own strength. Lean into God’s Spirit. Allow Him to empower your steps, calm your heart, and accomplish His purposes through you. His Spirit is enough. His power is perfect. His presence is your strength.

1. Holy Spirit, empower me beyond my own strength. Ask God to work in areas where your abilities fall short, trusting His power to accomplish what you cannot.
2. Lord, teach me to depend on Your Spirit, not my own might or effort. Pray for a heart that leans on God’s presence rather than relying solely on human wisdom, skill, or control.
3. Father, let Your Spirit lead and guide every step I take. Invite the Holy Spirit to direct your decisions, relationships, and daily responsibilities so your life reflects His power, not your own.
4. Lord, as a church, help us rely on Your Spirit and not on our own strength or plans. Pray that Friends Church would collectively depend on God’s power, guidance, and presence to accomplish His purposes, trusting that His Spirit is sufficient to overcome obstacles, build His kingdom, and equip His people for every task in 2026.
