“While we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son.”

Romans 5:10
This verse reveals one of the most breathtaking truths of the gospel: God didn’t wait for us to clean up our lives, fix our attitudes, or move closer to Him before acting in love. He moved first. At our most distant, most broken, most resistant point—Christ died for us. We were not neutral toward God; Scripture says we were His enemies. And yet, His response to our rebellion was reconciliation.

Reconciliation isn’t simply forgiveness—it’s relationship restored. Through Jesus’ death, the wall between us and God was torn down forever. We were brought from hostility into harmony, from separation into closeness, from alienation into adoption.

This truth should fill us with awe and humility. God pursued us when we were running the other direction. He invited us into peace when we were choosing conflict. His love bridges every gap we could never cross on our own.

Today, rest in the certainty that you are no longer an enemy, but a beloved child. Let gratitude rise in your heart as you remember the cost of your reconciliation. And walk confidently in the peace Christ has secured for you—peace that nothing and no one can take away.
1. Lord, thank You for reconciling me to Yourself through Jesus. Pray with gratitude for God’s love that pursued you even when you were far from Him.

2. Father, help me live in the peace You have given me. Ask God to help you walk daily in the confidence and rest that comes from being restored to Him.

3. Holy Spirit, teach me to show reconciliation to others. Pray for the strength to extend grace, forgiveness, and restored relationship in the same way God extended it to you.

4. Lord, as a church, help us embrace the reconciliation You have provided through Christ. Pray that the Friends Church would experience the peace and unity found in Jesus, letting His love heal divisions, restore relationships, and inspire the church to reflect God’s reconciling heart to the community.
